New Portal Launched to Promote Local, Healthy Eating

The Loudoun Valley Homegrown Markets Cooperative has teamed up with a local marketing company to better promote local producers and healthy eating.

The website is the latest effort to promote the wide variety of fruits, vegetables and meats provided by local farmers and offered at area farmers’ markets. It’s the brainchild of Dan Hine, owner of Crimson Fly Digital Marketing.

“This area is home to an incredible variety of food choices and market-fresh goods,” Hine said. “With EatLoCo as a resource to guide you and a farm-to-table mindset, a healthy Loudoun lifestyle becomes much more attainable.”

“We have built a way for people to find the farms and to help raise awareness so eventually all of Loudoun uses the farmers markets and the farms directly.” 

When Dan Hine found himself interested in the healthy eating and lifestyle movement, he realized there was not one central location online to find information about Loudoun’s farms and their products.

So, as owner of the digital marketing firm Crimson Fly, he decided to create one himself — and was born. Over the past few months, the site’s followers have grown exponentially, and recently EatLoCo partnered with Linna Walz, outreach coordinator for Loudoun Valley Homegrown Markets Cooperative, the group that organizes the majority of Loudoun”s farmers markets.

“Our five-market cooperative has been struggling with achieving public awareness on a limited budget,” said Walz. “Our new partnership with EatLoCo is helping us achieve meaningful connections between Loudoun residents and our farms and farmers markets that we otherwise couldn’t have gotten. Dan an dhis team have already developed some incredible tools to help site visitors locate us easier and to find specific homegrown, homemade or farm raised products from any of our local markets. We couldn’t be happier with our new partnership and the growth it will bring to all of our farmers markets.” Walz added.

EatLoCo.Org Launches As The Definitive Resource Guide To Living A Healthy Lifestyle In Loudoun. A new online resource has launched for Loudoun County residents and visitors: The site’s guiding mantra, “Live LoCo, Support LoCo, and most importantly EAT LoCo” directs shoppers to sources for local food products and the restaurants that use them, and gathers articles and tips that promote a healthy lifestyle from across the web. was created by Dan Hine, owner of Crimson Fly Digital Marketing, and is part of a collaborative partnership with the Loudoun Valley Homegrown Markets Cooperative (LVHMC), who manages the majority of the farmers markets in Loudoun County.
