Kristin Spak joined the InForm Fitness Team in January 2018 as an Integrative Health and Lifestyle Practitioner. Her mission is to guide and assist her clients in achieving optimal health and wellbeing through a combination of nutritional counseling and inspired lifestyle changes.
Although health and wellness has been a lifelong passion for Kristin, it only became a professional pursuit for her in recent years. Kristin’s original career path was in foreign service and intelligence work, where she served the U.S. Government with distinction in various overseas posts and in Washington, DC. over a 20-year period. She holds a B.A. in History from Bucknell University and an M.A. in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. In 2010, following her retirement from government service, she took over as Owner and President of VDI, Inc., an international security consulting company based in Lansdowne, VA. That same year, she also took over the management of her family’s five-acre vineyard in Leesburg, VA, where she oversaw the production of Chambourcin grapes for sale to local wineries.
Throughout her life, Kristin has avidly pursued her personal interest in health and nutrition, studying various nutritional theories in depth and following a healthy lifestyle. But after watching her own parents struggle, and eventually lose their battles, with degenerative diseases later in life, Kristin shifted her focus and determined that she should bring her personal knowledge of nutrition and wellness to a wider audience in hopes of making a difference. She obtained her Health Coach Certification in 2017 from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and began taking on Clients, eventually joining the InForm Fitness Team.
Kristin stays physically active and has been a strength training Client at InForm Fitness/Leesburg for several years. She is also training to become a Reiki practitioner, receiving her Reiki I certification in 2017. She is an advocate for local and organic farming, soil sustainability, and humane treatment of the animals we raise for food. She has three grown children and resides in Leesburg, VA.

We’ve all challenged ourselves about our life perspective: am I approaching life with enthusiasm, or am I focused on reacting to the next event? We all endeavor to carry a positive life view and live a life where our emotional anxieties and fears don’t dictate our choices. But where do we fall short? Our bodies are complex machines capable of incredible things. But something that they were never designed for is to contend with the daily exposure of toxins and stress which we’re exposed to in our daily lives.
Allow me to confess for a moment: my best efforts to find balance in my life – whatever that is – seem to erode the things that I always seem to want to do more of. If I try to spend more time with my family, I rest less. If I commit to walking the dog, I sleep less. And yet I don’t bother trying to convince myself that I’m alone in this plight: none of us get enough rest.
